Throughout this semester, Radians School witnessed the power of student leadership and hands-on learning through a meaningful environmental project led by Daniela Ortiz and Valeria Durán, in collaboration with members of the National Honor Society and ERCSA.
This initiative was designed to go beyond theory, allowing students to actively engage with concepts related to agriculture, sustainability, and environmental responsibility. The project unfolded in two thoughtfully planned phases, each one building knowledge, awareness, and a sense of purpose among students across grade levels.

Phase One: Learning and Awareness
During the first phase, National Honor Society students visited classrooms from Kindergarten through sixth grade, where they delivered educational presentations and interactive activities. These sessions introduced younger students to the importance of agriculture, the care of natural resources, and the role each individual plays in protecting the environment. Through age-appropriate discussions and hands-on engagement, students were encouraged to reflect on how their daily actions impact the world around them.

Phase Two: Hands-On Planting and Growth
The second phase brought learning to life through hands-on planting activities. Each student was assigned a vegetable and, with guidance from ERCSA members and National Honor Society students, participated actively in the planting and cultivation process. This experience allowed students to apply what they had learned while developing practical agricultural skills and a deeper appreciation for the effort required to grow food sustainably.

Learning That Grows Beyond the Classroom
This semester-long project proved to be a powerful educational experience, fostering responsibility, teamwork, patience, and environmental awareness. Students not only gained knowledge, but also developed a personal connection to the land and the process of growth—values that will remain with them long after the project concludes.
As the vegetables complete their growth cycle, students will have the opportunity to enjoy the results of their dedication and care, reinforcing the idea that learning, like nature, takes time, effort, and commitment.
At Radians School, learning goes beyond the classroom. It is about cultivating values, nurturing responsibility, and inspiring students to become thoughtful stewards of their environment—lessons that truly grow for life. 🌿
