Every year, Radians School proudly joins millions of participants around the world in the Great ShakeOut Earthquake Drill — a global movement dedicated to earthquake preparedness and safety awareness. On this day, the entire Radians community — students, faculty, and administration — pause simultaneously to practice one of the most important emergency responses: “Drop, Cover, and Hold On.”

A Schoolwide Moment of Awareness
At exactly 10:16 a.m., the campus comes to a purposeful stillness. Classrooms, offices, hallways, and even outdoor spaces transform into spaces of awareness as everyone practices the same steps — dropping to the ground, covering their heads, and holding on.
Whether in the middle of a science experiment, English discussion, or athletic practice, every Radian understands the importance of participating. This shared action symbolizes more than just a drill; it is a collective commitment to safety, readiness, and responsibility.
Why It Matters
Living in a region where seismic activity is possible, preparedness saves lives. Through the Great ShakeOut, students learn that safety is not just a rule — it’s a skill. By engaging in these drills, they develop confidence, quick decision-making, and calm under pressure.
Faculty and staff, meanwhile, use this opportunity to review procedures, assess classroom safety, and ensure that every student knows exactly what to do in an emergency. These small but powerful actions build a culture of awareness that extends beyond the classroom walls.

Learning Beyond the Textbook
At Radians, every experience is an opportunity to learn — and the Great ShakeOut is no exception. The activity connects directly to our school’s mission to forge, educate, and promote integral citizens. By practicing together, students not only learn about earthquake safety but also embody virtues such as cooperation, empathy, and responsibility.
It’s an experiential lesson that reinforces one of Radians School’s core beliefs: education that transcends. Knowing how to respond, staying calm, and helping others in moments of uncertainty are vital life skills that reflect true learning in action.
A Community United in Preparedness
What makes the Great ShakeOut special at Radians is our unity. The event bridges every level — from preschoolers to seniors, from teachers to administrators — reminding us that preparedness is a shared duty.
Each year, participation in the Great ShakeOut becomes another chapter in our story of growth, safety, and collective responsibility. Together, we strengthen our ability to protect one another, making Radians not only a place of academic excellence but also a community that cares, acts, and learns together.
Radians School – Educational quality that transcends.
