By Environmental Science Students – Radians School
Our Environmental Science students proudly present their magazine, Butterfly in Puerto Rico, a beautiful and informative publication created as part of their research on local biodiversity.
Led by Bianca Castrodad, Jannielys González, and Edgardo Negrón, this student project highlights the most commonly reported butterflies and moths of Puerto Rico, combining science, observation, and creativity. Each page offers fascinating facts about native and migratory species — from the Puerto Rican Calisto (Calisto nubila), which can only be found on our island, to the Gulf Fritillary (Agraulis vanillae) and the Black Witch (Ascalapha odorata), known in folklore as the “Mariposa de la Muerte.”
This project reflects our students’ passion for science and conservation. Through their research, they discovered how butterflies not only add beauty to our environment but also serve as important indicators of ecological health.
Congratulations to our Environmental Science class for their dedication and teamwork in creating this educational and inspiring magazine.
