Radians School Recognized for Monarch Butterfly Conservation

Written by: Profa. Carla Cáceres

Radians School has been officially recognized by Monarch Watch, a globally respected organization dedicated to the education, conservation, and scientific research of monarch butterflies.

This recognition is the result of intentional, research-based work carried out by our Environmental Science students in collaboration with Prof. Cáceres and Prof. Torres. Together, they designed, documented, and submitted a comprehensive conservation proposal detailing the initiatives implemented at Radians to protect and repopulate the monarch butterfly species.

In acknowledgment of these sustained efforts, Radians School was awarded the Official Certificate of Recognition along with a commemorative plaque—formal validation of our active role in environmental stewardship, biodiversity protection, and long-term conservation impact.

Radians has now been formally designated as a recognized conservation site that provides care and actively contributes to the repopulation of monarch butterflies in their natural habitats. Additionally, our Butterfly Garden is now listed on the official map of Monarch Watch, placing Radians within an international network committed to preserving this vital species.

As part of our conservation initiatives in Puerto Rico, students have participated in the responsible release of monarch butterflies into their natural habitats. We have also supported and collaborated with local zooculture campaigns and native species release efforts, strengthening ongoing conservation work across the island. These experiences extend far beyond theory—they transform environmental education into action.

This recognition reflects the enthusiasm, dedication, and sense of responsibility demonstrated by our students and faculty. It is a powerful reminder that learning at Radians transcends the classroom. Our students are not only studying environmental science—they are becoming stewards of biodiversity and advocates for sustainability.

We are deeply grateful for the continued support of our school community as we celebrate this important milestone. Together, we reaffirm our commitment to environmental education, sustainability, and the protection of the natural world—because at Radians, we believe that meaningful learning creates lasting impact.
